I'm brand-new to the community and was hoping to post links to some of my fan fiction over on AO3. However, I did have some questions concerning what's considered appropriate (or inappropriate) for this comm. For example, my fics tend to be R or NC-17; would linking to such stories be a problem?
Also, would anybody even be interested in reading them? There's not much point in posting stuff if there's no interest, after all.

Complete Series on DVD is in the works for 2011!
Yes, there's finally some news to report! We've all wanted a complete collection of all four seasons of ReBoot, right? Well it looks like we'll get what we've wanted for so long!
From the TVShowsOnDVD.com article
Los Angeles, California and Vancouver, British Columbia - Shout! Factory and Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc. (TSX:RNK) announced today a new alliance to bring the groundbreaking, internationally renowned CGI animation TV series ReBoot to the home entertainment marketplace. Under its multi-year agreement with Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc., Shout! Factory will be the exclusive home entertainment distributor with digital rights to the entire action-packed series ReBoot in North America. This announcement was made by Shout! Factory founding partners Richard Foos, Bob Emmer and Garson Foos; and Terry Kalagian, Vice President of Business Development for Rainmaker Entertainment, Inc.
"We are thrilled with this opportunity to work with Rainmaker Entertainment, a globally recognized studio for its stunning animation in film and TV," state Shout! Factory founding partners. "ReBoot is a celebrated TV property, boasting a large worldwide fan following. This program lines up perfectly with the Shout! Factory brand. We hope this is just the start of a mutually beneficial relationship with Rainmaker."
"ReBoot fans have been urging us to release the series on DVD," said Terry Kalagian, VP of Business Development for Rainmaker. "We are overjoyed to have finally found the perfect partners at Shout! Factory to help give fans what they want."
Hailed by critics and fans alike, ReBoot made history for being the first fully computer-generated animated TV series. Its unique setting inside a computer allows ReBoot to mine the references to computers and video games for all they're worth, giving the show its humorous edge. ReBoot was originally seen on North American television in 1994 on YTV in Canada and on ABC Television in the U.S. The series ran four successful seasons, and was eventually seen in over 70 countries around the world. The innovative animation, insider humor and high octane action combine to give fans a lot of binary bang for their buck.
Dot Matrix and her brother Enzo, plus thousands of friendly binomes, live in Mainframe, which is plagued by viruses Megabyte and sister strain Hexadecimal. Guardian Bob is sent from the Net to protect them, and soon makes it his home. Together, they must prevent Megabyte from taking control of all the systems. As an added complication, games being played by the mystical User invade the system regularly, and must be defeated, or else portions of the city are laid waste... this gives us a chance to see every genre of video-game ever conceived, from the point of view of the characters! When Megabyte finally manages to banish Bob, Enzo takes over as the city's Guardian, but things will never be quite the same.
Shout! Factory plans an aggressive rollout of the ReBoot home entertainment product-line, beginning with the collectible Complete Series DVD box set release and digital distribution in 2011.
Rainmaker Entertainment Inc., a multifaceted animation studio, is one of Canada's largest producers of CG animation. With an innovative history that spans over 15 years, Rainmaker today continues to tell engaging stories and create compelling characters for all media. The studio's 200 creatively-inspired artists and storytellers are currently in development on the company's first slate of proprietary projects. Originally established as Mainframe Entertainment, the company broke ground by producing the first ever CGI animation series ReBoot. In addition to developing its own properties, Rainmaker also produces feature length DVD's for many top international brands including Barbie, Max Steele, Tony Hawk, and more. Rainmaker's clients include Mattel, The Weinstein Company, Lionsgate, Sony, Ubisoft, Electronic Arts and MTV. For more information, go to www.rainmaker.com.

A guy named Brian Ward
(apparently the Producer/Manager, DVD & Home Video) had this to say:
Yep. Working on 'em. This time 'round, however, I'm joined by MEGA-ReBoot fan Kristin Kennedy. Already working hard on bonus materials, both new and archival. We'll keep you as informed as we can. For now, though, rejoice in the announcement. Current Mood: ecstatic

There is a User, and He is Me
POsted this over at Zeros2Heroes
as well as on bootniks
and people seemed to like it. Can't really post it on ff.net or fictionpress because it isn't really fic and it isn't non-fiction. It's an essay. Now get back here, don't go running screaming in the other direction just yet.
I've previously threatened on numerous occasions to write a dissertation about the concept of religion in the ReBoot universe.
Well, I finally did it.
Be warned, it's a little long.( ReBoot!Collapse )

Donations for The Revival of Reboot
I need some donations so that I can pay for the cost of buying ad space on various webcomics (like Bob&George, VG Cats, etc).
I'm pretty sure that this will draw in the crowd of people we really need.
It's via PayPal, so everything is secure. You can donate however much or little you wish.
I'm sure you might be asking "What's our goal?", well the only amount I'm certain about is that it will cost $20 to have an ad on Bob&George.com, for a month. The other sites I'm not sure about ATM. However I will be looking into the various other sites and their pricing!

ReBooting the Log
Hello fellow members of Mainframe Log. It has been quite a while since this poor community was allowed to slip away into oblivion and I thought perhaps this might be an appropriate time to attempt to revitalize it. To start out with, I've invited a couple of friends of mine to join the community, so welcome aboard Allison and Rachel. I hope both of you chose to accept my invitation to join.
Second, all of you who were members before and didn't have posting privileges, you now have them. Before any member could comment on a post but members could only receive the power to make new posts by emailing me. This is no longer necessary. Any member can make a post at any time.
Next up, I'm posing the question to all members, new and old alike: What shall we do with this community? Is there enough interest to bring this community back from the brink of beyond? If so, what form shall it take? General fandom/discussion? Fan fiction posting? Roleplaying? Any other notions? I would really like to get every member's opinion on this, even if your opinion is just "I don't really know."
Anyway, the mike is open. Step up to the Mike and say whatever you'd like. We're all listenning. :)

Fics on demand! Join!
(If I'm not supposed to do this on certain comms... my deepest apologies. I'll take the slap on the wrist and accept the deletion of my post. X-posting gets a little confusing. ;;U_U)
Okay folks, I joined a very cool comm today and am doing my duty of pimping it out as a member but also because there needs to be more than anime requests! So join and post a request, folks!
Everyone will want to join because listen to this awesome challenge for the month of June! Anyone
who writes at least one fic fullfilling a request per day
in the month of June will recieve either 6 months of paid LJ service or a $15 gift certif for amazon.com or online retailer of your choice. Pretty freaking cool, huh? And even if you don't write, how about requesting things you don't get enough of? I put in a request for Bruce/Johnny Dead Zone fics.
Please join and post requests! You don't even have to be fandom specific if you just have random ideas. =)
~Clarity / Karasu ( ')>X-posting all over the place. Apologies if you get this multiple times. Current Mood: determined

Though this story will be set in the ReBoot universe, it will not take place in Mainframe. Rather, it will be set in a distant system known as the Cray. The Cray is a vast system. Not as large as the Super Computer, but still far larger than Mainframe. Where Mainframe once had two cities and now has only one, the Cray has a total of 19 cities set in concentric hexagonal rings.
Each city has it's own individual style or atmosphere. The central city, named Rom, is the hub for the entire system. As they say, "All roads lead to Rom." It houses the Principle Office for the entire system, as well as the local Guardian base.
In the surrounding ring there is a city with a distinctly oriental slant. I still haven't settled on a name for this city, though I once considered naming it Hiroshima. Those of you who know your history may recognize that name. Consider it a bit of foreshadowing. This city is the technological center of the system. Most research and development occurs here, not least of which is weapons development and testing. Quite the tempting target for any ambitious virus.
Speaking of viruses, in the outer ring there is a city which, among other things, is known as Virus City. This city has been completly taken over by viruses. One virus in particular reigns supreme over all, ParaCyte. ParaCyte is a classic Corruptor virus with a rather non-classical approach to domination: he rules through political and economic means. Certainly he has his armies, his thugs and his heavies to enforce his will, but why waste so much effort cooercing people into doing your bidding when you can simply pull the strings that make people want to do what you wish? You toe the line, do your level best, and you'll be both honored and rewarded. Step out of line and "You'll never work in this town again." He's basicly the godfather of the city.
ParaCyte's humane approach to ruling Virus City isn't entirely his own idea. There is someone behind the scenes manipulating him, advising him to use subtle means of control because it's what works. This person is not a virus, but she has somehow worked her way up into a position of considerable trust and authority in ParaCyte's organisation. Due largely to her efforts one sector of Virus City has been set aside as a refuge for benign viruses, whereas the other sectors are all under the uneasy control of ParaCyte's general viruses.
There's a lot more to tell about life in the Cray, but that shall have to wait on future posts. See you sprites later. Stay Frosty. :)
Once upon a time there lived a boy who loved ReBoot and wished more than anything to write ReBoot fan fiction. His active imagination kept coming up with fascinating scenes that would make for gripping stories if not for one small problem. This lad lacked the self-discipline to sit down and do the hard work necessary to expand a multitude of disconnected scenes into a single continuous story with a beginning, middle and end.
Then one day, after an extended period where his imagination had been particularly inspired, he said to himself, "This is nuts! These story ideas are just going to waste floating around in my head until they get stale. It's time to strap on the harness and get to work."
And so he set forth to bring the world inside his mind out into the light of day. Drawing together the lessons learned from previous less successful efforts he set about crafting a system for his characters to inhabit, fleshing out his existing characters, generating secondary characters to breathe life into the system, plotting out the flow of pivotal events and inserting lesser events as necessary to give the story more substance and subtext.
Does he succeed? Will his ReBoot dreams become a reality? Time alone will tell. Current Mood: inspired
